I wanted to share my thoughts on the Stapl Hard Case Bundle. I have it on my 2024 GMC 2500 along with a Four Wheel Camper Hawk. I’ve had it for about six months now. Didn’t want to write a review until I’ve done some real trails with it, just finished up one week doing the Continental Divide Trail route as outlined by Overland Bound followed by one week exploring Bears Ears, Valley of the Gods and driving down to Expo West. Prior routes over the last six months have been easier. First the good points. The case is definitely waterproof, holds my traction boards, various soft shackles, gloves and pully shackle. I added chains to make it function like a table when open so easier to go through the stuff in it. It has not damaged the paint job on my truck. Some have questioned if it affects the view out the side mirror, I haven’t found this to be an issue. I have it on the passenger side and I’m driving an HD truck with towing mirrors, so to me this is a non-factor, may be different on your truck. Keep in mind that passenger side mirrors are already wide view so I would think it would be similar on a ½ ton. The materials of the bracket are first rate, definitely machined well and top quality. Downsides, well, it is expensive for the amount of actual storage you get. Also, the case looks like a rifle case and people would come up and ask to see my gun, so I spent $10 on Amzn and got a sign for it. The holes to lock the case are small, so I’m using some pretty cheap locks to secure it, would not take much to cut those. The latches on the case aren’t great. I’m having an issue with a couple being very hard to open and there are like 9 or 10 of them. It’s an off-the-shelf case, I think it could be a little better. Being outside the truck, it does collect mud but hey, it is what it is. Finally, keep in mind that you can’t remove the camper with the standard jack mounts with the case on, so what you have to do is raise the camper up a little bit, remove the case, then remove the camper. Not a huge deal, but just an extra step when loading or unloading the camper. Would I buy it again? Maybe, but I would probably lean towards the full Molle Rack version and get my own Pelican cases or something like that. Maybe two or three smaller cases to better organize my stuff. I did actually have to do a recovery on this most recent trip, and it was nice that I could just grab the stuff out of the case, so overall I’m happy with it, but as always with gear second thinking my choices. I will say dealing with the guys at Stapl has been great, it’s a small company with great customer service both pre and post-sale.
